1. What is EMV?
 

EMV stands for Europay Mastercard and Visa. EMV is a global security standard for chip card technology. It enables chip cards to be accepted anywhere in the world. With the EMV smart chip, your ATM card is better protected against unauthorised transactions.

2. Why is there a need to replace my magnetic stripe ATM card with a EMV chip ATM card?
 

The chip card enhances security of your card data as it allows more data to be stored, which uniquely identifies the card and the cardholder. This makes it nearly impossible for fraudsters to decode or tamper with the card.

3. Do I need to pay for the new EMV chip ATM card?
 

No, CIMB is not charging our customers for the card replacement.

4. Will my ATM card PIN number change?
 

Yes, a new ATM PIN will be issued with your new EMV chip ATM card. It will be mailed to you separately.

5. Can I still use my existing magnetic stripe ATM card?
 

You can continue to use your magnetic stripe ATM card till 31 December 2013 or before you activate your new EMV Chip ATM card, whichever is earlier.

6. Can I still use my existing magnetic stripe ATM card overseas
 

Yes, you can use your magnetic stripe ATM card overseas till 31 December 2013. You will need to activate overseas ATM usage before you can your ATM card overseas.

7. Can I use the new EMV chip ATM card immediately?
 

With effect from 1 July 2012, all cards issued by the bank are in deactivated status. Therefore, you will need to activate your card before you can use your new EMV chip ATM card.

Customers will be able to activate your ATM card for local use immediately via our website.

8. Will the monthly recurring payment arrangement linked to my banking accounts be affected with this change?
 

No, your monthly recurring payment will not be affected.

9. I did not receive the new EMV ATM card.
 

ATM customers were notified in writing from November 2013 of the new card replacement.

If you need a new EMV ATM card urgently, please contact CIMB At-Your-Service on (65) 6333 7777, Monday to Sunday (between 9.00 am and 9.00 pm) to request for your new card and PIN.

10. Can my new EMV Chip ATM card be used overseas?
 

Yes, you can use your new EMV Chip ATM card overseas at any CIMB regional ATMs or any ATMs that bear the PLUS logo if you have activated the card for overseas usage.

11. How can I activate overseas ATM usage on my new EMV chip ATM Card?
 

You can call CIMB At-Your-Service on (65) 6333 7777 to activate your EMV ATM chip card for overseas usage.
