Why is there a need to replace my magnetic stripe ATM card with a EMV chip ATM card?
The chip card enhances security of your card data as it allows more data to be stored, which uniquely identifies the card and the cardholder. This makes it nearly impossible for fraudsters to decode or tamper with the card.
Can I still use my existing magnetic stripe ATM card overseas
Yes, you can use your magnetic stripe ATM card overseas till 31 December 2013. You will need to activate overseas ATM usage before you can your ATM card overseas.
With effect from 1 July 2012, all cards issued by the bank are in deactivated status. Therefore, you will need to activate your card before you can use your new EMV chip ATM card.
Customers will be able to activate your ATM card for local use immediately via our website.
ATM customers were notified in writing from November 2013 of the new card replacement.
If you need a new EMV ATM card urgently, please contact CIMB At-Your-Service on (65) 6333 7777, Monday to Sunday (between 9.00 am and 9.00 pm) to request for your new card and PIN.
Yes, you can use your new EMV Chip ATM card overseas at any CIMB regional ATMs or any ATMs that bear the PLUS logo if you have activated the card for overseas usage.
